Farmhand's Choice Granola

I don't think of myself as a "granola Mom" at all...but I do enjoy making good, wholesome, real food for my family. I don't like feeding them things that I know have added substances their little growing bodies don't need.  I believe that a great deal of "food"  that is offered for kids is a direct result of the food industries lack of health standards, and also a lack of educating ourselves about what is in the food.  I also believe the things {additives} in so called food are attributing to the rise of Childhood allergies, obesity, and learning disorders.  It's something I am passionate about because I believe it's important what goes in our bodies long term! But I also don't believe it's all about food ~ it is happiness ~ stress levels ~ overall health ~ state of mind ~ attitude ~ a multitude of things!  So I just thought I would share this recipe and encourage you to try making your own food more. I buy some pre-made foods/snacks, what can I say ..I'm a mom living in the real world!  But I also try to balance that out with a larger amt coming from whole foods ...not the store but the actual whole foods... So here is my lovely pan of the easiest granola ever to make.....isn't it pretty too?!

This recipe came from a blog I follow called Sparrows and Spatulas.  She is a Mom who lives in Denver and works for a design/marketing firm out of Brooklyn. I just like her style ~ simple ...clean...healthy. So the credit goes to her for the photo below and finding this recipe .....

I hope you make it and enjoy a bowl with your family! It's a man-pleaser too!  Josh has been eating it straight out of the container.. This is also one that would be great used as a topper for salads, yogurt, or oatmeal.

Happy Fall and almost Halloween!!!! : )

Roxborough Park

Wow ~ I have missed FALL!! For almost 9 years now, we have lived in places where there is not much of a Fall season. Here in Denver since the last weekend of September, it has been absolutely beautiful!  The trees here turn all the beautiful yellows, oranges, and reds! It makes us want to go hiking every weekend so that is what we've been doing! This past wknd we went to Roxborough park, about 30 min from our house. The Red rocks are so neat! Did you know they're very fragile? You can't climb them or they would break !  They are for us to look at and admire.
It's turning chili here and we are ready for winter after a long wonderful summer settling in!  It feels great to be settled and we are enjoying life in Colorado!

Look how they are all angled..

We do selfies ..

I could live here!  There was a big front porch on the other side overlooking the city.

Nature is restorative....

We came home and grilled up some wings! Another great Fall weekend in Colorado!! We are loving it!

Well I'm pretty sure the pictures say it all in this post!

Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate.

Oh my GOOD-NESS!

One of our favorite things to do here locally, is to visit the Farmers Market in the lovely Boulder. We are certain there are wonderful ones in Denver area as well, but I think we have just fallen in love with Boulder b/c of the small town feel and all the quaint shops and strange quietness of the town.  We came to Boulder on our trip to scope out Wyoming years ago, and have been coming back ever since whenever we had a free weekend.
We started out with lunch ...BBQ for Josh and the kids - I chose a Falafel wrap.  It was a gorgeous morning to relax and eat good food and be together!

Then we began taking in the sights....

The setting...

Cinderella pumpkins everywhere!!

Now this is FALL.....

Oh life is SO precious! It's the little things.  Truly, don't miss it. Give others a smile, even when they don't smile back. Let someone go ahead of you in line..are you really in that big of a hurry?  Slowdown! Be kind. It can be discouraging to be around people all the time who don't lift our spirits.  But, hang on, don't go there. Look up!  Find YOUR joy! Mine is in the mountains with my family, reading that book with my children and talking about it, washing and ironing my husbands pants so that life is easier for him, staying home in the day, praying over my children, and making our nest lovely, comfortable, clean, happy!  If I may, I recommend a Saturday at the Farmers market with your family, for good-ness sake !!

Fall soccer

Our little soccer player is back at it! Luke has been practicing all summer long to be ready for the Fall. This is the first year he's shown us now serious he is about the game and how much he loves it. It's so much fun to watch him! He's learning positions and this league is all about encouragement - playing as a team - doing our best - and showing good sportsmanship. We are so happy it's not too competitive yet so that he will learn to love the sport and not just winning.
We are so proud of our big guy!

2 days before the twins arrived....

2 days before the twins arrived....
I am so thankful my Dad took this picture....to remind me what it felt like to hold two precious lives inside of me...

Be encouraged!

Lord fill my heart with Yours
that I may know Your will,
those things that I should act upon
and when you want me still.

Guard my mind from useless thoughts
that clutter, harm, confuse.
Create in me a closeness
that Your course I'll always choose.

Clear my hearing, teach me
to identify the lies,
that I may only hear the truth
of who I am in Christ.

Lord, satisfy and fill me
with Your Spirit from above,
that I may truly know the freedom
of Unfailing Love.

Then planted deeply in that love,
my heart in full surrender,
Lift the veil for all to see,
my life display Your splendor.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I BELIEVE......

I BELIEVE......
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11
