Delicious baby food!

Over the holidays, Josh's parents came and brought their vita-mixer. I have always wanted to make my own baby food. We made all sorts, and i am amazed at the ease and deliciousness of our result. For any mothers out who are even thinking of making your own baby purees, please consider it because it is actually very uncomplicated. Here's how we did it. There are thousands of recipes to choose from, but we just made a few, sweet potatoes, squash, sweet potatoes with apples, squash with apples, apples with dates, and peaches. Just a plain food processor will work as well. We simply pureed it down, then froze separate servings in ice trays. Once the ice trays freeze, take them out of the freezer tray, label and store in ziplock freezer bags. They are good in the freezer for up to three months. Luke and Isabel LOVE the baby food and it's nice to know exactly what it going into their little growing bodies. It is so wonderful to feed them things that actually smell good and look good too. It does take time, but if you have it, I think it's a good investment.

THere are some good recipes online at www.wholesomebabyfood.com or any baby food cookbook.

SO little time..so much to blog

I thought I would take this chance to wish everyone a very HAPPY new year - 2009 just sounds good to me! It's always a good thing to start fresh in anything you do, and I feel like at the new year, it's great to set new goals or just new ideas, things you want to accomplish...or maybe it's just another day for you, but i like to think I have that "pollyanna" attitude!! I hope that for those of you who read this blog truly enjoyed a blessed holiday season!! See you in 2009! I have lots of posts to catch up on....

my sweets

We were surrounded with sweetness this week, my little sister kara...

In the kitchen with Kara!  I truly wish i had her talent in the kitchen - she's so creative!
Although she admits she enjoys cooking rather than baking.

I know - the things i let him do!  Look how happy they are -completely aware that they are
doing something they're not supposed to.  Those babies are smart as whips!
This is them being very sweet while we baked all day....they really were perfect

Every year it seems Kara and I have special time together right before Christmas!  This year, she stayed with us for a few days and we just hung out with no agenda - so we baked cookies, shopped a little, wrapped gifts, played with the babies, and enjoyed the nice 75 degree weather we are having here this time of year!!  We had a great time.  I'm so thankful for my special little baby sister :)  By the way - we took this picture of her posing with the peg-leg gingerbread cookie.  All the gingerbread men were perfect, except this one - it had a peg leg, so we gave it special treatment.    I love decorating christmas cookies...but talk about time consuming!!!!  We were totally over it by about the 5th one, but we had also made spritz christmas cookies and triple chocolate oatmeal with cranberries - which were my personal fav.   I must say there is nothing better than to me this time of year than sitting by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate, a christmas cookie, and a great magazine!!!  What a treat!!  Like i always say - i enjoy the simple things in life :)  Merry Christmas!!!!!

Izzy and Livy

I have always thought it would be neat to have a cousin my own age, much less a brother or sister.  Isabel and Luke have each other, plus Olivia, and Mark all born within a month of each other!!  I can only imagine the fun they will have together one day.  I thought these were cute of Isabel and her cousin Olivia!  They just sat and stared at each other for a long time. It was really sweet.  It's so fun seeing them together.

shelly

Shelly came down from ny and got to stay a few extra days with us after Thanksgiving.  This is the Japanese maple tree that bloomed the week of thanksgiving, and today - there are no leaves on it.  It's no wonder to me now, why the former owners of our home kept on about the japanese maples when we bought our home. This tree was really pretty.  The color was so vibrant and rich....so we took lots of pictures.   I did not know of it's hidden beauty.  You can see from the tree behind it, the color of ordinary trees in the winter here.

We spent a day at the mobile museum of art at an Albrecht Durur exhibit.  The babies were SO good. Shelly studied his work at Savannah.

This is a beautiful piece of art hanging in the museum.
Angel wings made of spoons! The top is the spoon heads and the bottom of the wings are the handles.

so special!

i miss you shelly

Another double blessing!

I just realized that in 2008, our family officially doubled in number!  I guess it's the year for doubles :)  We have 14 people now in the Bevi clan...of coarse we're not all just Bevi's anymore, and are so blessed to be double in #!  Who knows maybe one day it will be triple!!! Now that would be crazy!  SO THANKFUL FOR FAMILY and all the different elements each special person brings!!!!!
Some pictures from the weekend after thanksgiving...

Josh

Dont worry - we did not have another set of twins yet!!!
Today is Josh's birthday!!  These are just a few of some of my favorite
pictures of him

He amazes me every day with his gentle, quiet love...and attentiveness to our family.
Happy birthday josh.

WE LOVE YOU!!!

2 days before the twins arrived....

2 days before the twins arrived....
I am so thankful my Dad took this picture....to remind me what it felt like to hold two precious lives inside of me...

Be encouraged!

Lord fill my heart with Yours
that I may know Your will,
those things that I should act upon
and when you want me still.

Guard my mind from useless thoughts
that clutter, harm, confuse.
Create in me a closeness
that Your course I'll always choose.

Clear my hearing, teach me
to identify the lies,
that I may only hear the truth
of who I am in Christ.

Lord, satisfy and fill me
with Your Spirit from above,
that I may truly know the freedom
of Unfailing Love.

Then planted deeply in that love,
my heart in full surrender,
Lift the veil for all to see,
my life display Your splendor.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I BELIEVE......

I BELIEVE......
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11
