One day last week I took Luke to the doctors office. I had brought him a drink, along with a little snack of pretzels and cheese. [knowing he would need it mid-waiting on the doc] So, as he's eating it rather aggressively...[obviously hungry] he stopped, chewed up his bite, and closed the little wrapper, and said...."better save these for Isabel" ; ) Several seconds passed before I could even begin to reply back to him, because I was so moved by his sweet heart!! Oh my goodness....my sweet boy!! So after I welled up inside...I told him "oh precious boy, those are all yours! You can eat all of them. Daddy will get Isabel another snack. Thank you for thinking of your sister." The sweetest part to me about it all, was that it was so obvious he wanted to eat the entire thing, but instead he was going to save them for her. It just melts my heart because even though they fight like cats and dogs some times, they really do have a special place in each of their souls for one another...more times than not, they are always thinking to bring the other one some part of what they are getting, even if it's as simple as a little snack. It's just innate...but it's special. Thank you GOd for teaching me a lesson on giving, on thinking of others, and on selflessness through the heart of my little boy.
Thought you might like that one : )
