I want to share a small lesson from a book my Mother gave to me a couple of years ago as we were going through some of her books she'd had for years and we were preparing to move out here. Now, God has blown a blessing in my garden by allowing the richness of Amy Carmichael's words in my life as i am reading this book again. If you enjoy old writings, and the purity of scripture based thoughts, I highly encourage you to find this book!
She shares from scripture that if we are willing to"..delight to do Thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart" Psalm 40:8, and are willing to recieve the north winds, the hot air, the sharp and cold winds (all of these adversities) then out of these winds come the rich spices of His Garden, and the flowers know it is blowing, and are glad. - Rose From Brier
Amy challenges the question to us.... Do you delight yourself in God's will? She encourages us through this picture of the wind, to embrace ALL that God has called you to, and not to just get through it, but to find great delight in it!!!
Picture in your mind....
Setting your doors into the secret avenues of being wide open to the north wind or to the south. Envision the winds of God's power flowing into your life, whatever they be, and delighting in Him! Out of you will flow the fragrance of God's garden.......
I set my book atop the mums that my dear friend Jennifer gave to me before leaving town to move to Cheyenne. When she gave them to me, they were closed tight. Though her sweet friendship is no longer here physically, she and I truly were a blossom from God's garden to one another. The way he brought us together in His perfect time and plan gives us goosebumps. What an AWESOME God we serve. We can do nothing to deserve this grace, it's a gift.
And oh the joy of these sweet blossoms...............
Luke and Isabel enjoyed their last soccer game of the Fall season last night. What great fun they had with friends. And as we begin to prepare for Winter, we are enjoying the cool days of fall and look forward with thankful hearts to what the rest of the year will bring for us!
Love and Hugs from Wyoming!!!!!!!
